Performance and Handling

The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four engine, rated for 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. For 2025, the 6-speed manual transmission is no longer an available option. Instead, the engine pairs exclusively with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. This hot hatch is fast off the starting line, launching from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds. Power is sent through the front wheels only.

The suspension consists of a front strut and rear multi-link setup. An adaptive suspension system is available in the top Autobahn trim. Drivers can choose from multiple driving modes to tailor the car’s dynamic responses, including Comfort, Sport, and Custom.

Interior Features

The GTI’s hatchback design offers plenty of headroom and cargo space in a compact package. Front sport seats are standard, featuring integrated headrests and cloth material. SE and Autobahn trims have available upgrades to perforated Vienna leather upholstery with a power-adjustable driver’s seat and memory functionality. The second-row seats are 60/40 split-folding and when in their flattened position, cargo volume expands to 34.5 cubic feet.

Exterior Design

The GTI’s front end has been redesigned for 2025, featuring a new lower grille, an illuminated VW logo, and a light bar that spans the grille. The Autobahn trim features a new adaptive front lighting system with dynamic cornering lights.

The rear end features dual chrome-tipped exhaust outlets, a roof spoiler, and a VW badge that acts as the release handle for the hatch. S and SE trims have 18-inch wheels with machined finishes, while the Autobahn trim features 19-inch wheels with summer performance tires.

Infotainment and Technology

All trims offer a 12.9-inch central touchscreen display with a new menu layout and more responsive interface. Physical controls for volume and temperature have been reinstated for 2025, making the interface more intuitive. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a navigation system, and SiriusXM all come standard. The system also enables over-the-air updates.

SE and Autobahn trims feature a premium Harman Kardon audio system with nine speakers and a wireless charging pad. USB-C ports can be found throughout the cabin in all models.

Volkswagen has made several meaningful updates to the GTI for 2025, which help to cement its place at the top of the hot hatch segment. Get started with your daily-capable performance car at Bommarito Volkswagen of St. Peters in St. Peters, MO.
