Engine and Performance

All trim levels of the Volkswagen Atlas come standard with a turbocharged 4-cylinder motor providing 269 horsepower. The newly retuned 8-speed automatic transmission is standard on all trim levels. When combined with the turbo 2.0-liter powertrain, this gives the Atlas a sporty feel, with a 0-60 mph time of 7.3 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 117 mph.

Front-wheel drive is standard for the two lower SE trim levels, while all-wheel drive is standard for all others. The entry-level SE trim has a 2000-pound tow capacity with the addition of an aftermarket hitch, while a tow hitch and 5000-pound towing capacity come standard on all other trim levels. This will provide more than enough power for your weekend adventures.

Comfort and Cargo

All trim levels of the 2025 Atlas come with individual captain’s seats in the front; the driver’s seat is 8-way adjustable, while the passenger’s is 6-way. The second row consists of a 60/40 folding bench with a fold-down armrest with integrated cupholders. The third row is a 50/50 split bench. There is no fold-down armrest on the third row, but cupholders are integrated into the side panels.

The standard storage space for the Atlas is impressive. There is 20.6 cubic feet of storage space behind the third row. If you lay the third row down, you increase your storage to 55.5 cubic feet. Lower the second row as well, and you end up with a total of 96.8 cubic feet of storage. With additional storage areas underneath the front-row seating, as well as within all four door bins, the Atlas is prepared to transport your entire family and all their gear.

Safety and Connectivity

Safety highlights include the Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a Travel Assist system, ABS and Driveline Traction Control, Front Assist with Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot alerts, Lane Assist with both a Lane Keeping Assist and a Lane Departure Warning, Dual-Stage Driver and Passenger Front Airbags, Side-mounted Protection Airbags for all three rows, and a standard backup camera.

All trim levels come with a 12-inch integrated touchscreen multi-function center display that is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. Standard features also include a six-speaker system, wireless phone charging, and six USB-C ports.
