The 2024 GMC Terrain: A Compact Ride Overflowing With Sophistication

Expert Exterior Craftsmanship

This year’s GMC Terrain sits on 17-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels wrapped in blackwall all-season tires. The Terrain’s premium lighting system includes automatic on/off headlamps with a delay, IntelliBeam automatic high beams, and LED headlamps and taillamps with C-shaped signature lighting. The power-adjustable side-view mirrors feature built-in heaters that activate when the rear defogger is turned on.

The second trim in the lineup, the Terrain SLT, comes with roof-mounted side rails, fog lights, and a hands-free programmable liftgate. The SLT upgrades to 18-inch aluminum wheels and its side-view mirrors include integrated turn-signal indicators. With the base model, you can add an optional SkyScape sunroof and molded assist steps for easier entry and exit. The available Roadside Safety Package includes a first-aid kit and a highway safety kit.

Mechanical Features

All variants in this year’s Terrain lineup house a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engine, delivering 175 horsepower and 203 lb.-ft. of torque. Mated to a nine-speed electronically controlled transmission, the engine boasts a dual overhead-camshaft design with variable valve timing. The onboard Electronic Precision Shift system frees up space in your center console with its ergonomic and convenient design. The base trim comes with front-wheel drive, but you can opt for the four-wheel-drive version of any trim in this year’s lineup.

The Automatic Stop/Start system shuts off the engine when your Terrain slows to a stop and restarts it with a press of the gas pedal. The Terrain’s four-link rear suspension and MacPherson front suspension are both fine-tuned for a class-leading smooth ride.

Safety First

With each model in this year’s lineup, you’ll receive three years of Remote Access through OnStar, allowing you to remotely lock and unlock doors, start and stop the engine, and check your GMC’s stats. The Terrain’s Following Distance Indicator helps you maintain a safe distance from the car ahead, giving you ample time to react to sudden changes.

Lane Keep Assist includes a Departure Warning that alerts you if you drift out of your lane, and the Assist can provide corrective steering to get you back on track. Forward Collision Alert and Front Pedestrian Braking use sensors on your Terrain’s front bumper to detect potential hazards, alert you, and help prevent front-end impacts.
